Bethesda Softworks Announces Creation Kit and DLC

And it's hardly a generalisation. Most of the posts here are complaining about something they will be getting for free. F
AH AH
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH
That is really one of the funniest posts in recent memory. You say you don't generalize and then you make a big fucking generalization right after. Since you can't be bothered to read most of the posts let me summarize briefly.
'I don't care about the mod kit, the game is too broken for any amouunt of modding to fix.'
Not complaining about the mod kit, complaining about the game. Which is $60 last I checked.
'The DLC sounds shitty, at least the Anchorage thingy'
The DLC cost money.
Several other types of posts are included, but they mostly complain about Bethesda being money-grubbing bastards.

As for where I stand on this, I think Operation: Anchorage sounds more like Operation: Flashpoint and Bethesda getting cheeky, thinking that they can make a decent COD style FPS, when really their attempt was rather mediocre and the shooter aspect was one of the most criticized parts of the game. VR and cryonics also don't really fit into Fallout lore.

What the fuck?

So they have an opportunity to make the game better and all they can think of is how to make it worse?

Anchorage sounds like another step in the direction of what will eventually happen: the Fallout series becoming full FPS.

I've stopped caring about FO3 and its modding future. I fear that even with the G.E.C.K. it will be hell to turn FO3 into something old Fallout fans can truly enjoy.

Why even bother. The mood around here clearly indicated NOTHING ON EARTH will turn FO3 into something old Fallout fans can truly enjoy ...

... at least for some old Fallout fans. Personally, I like it and I am an old Fallout fan.

“We’ve always seen the original world of Fallout 3 as a foundation for even more content. Some created by us, and a lot more created by users,” said Todd Howard, game director for Fallout 3. “It’s fun to create your own character, but it can be equally fun to create your own adventures. We can’t wait to see what the community does with the G.E.C.K.”

Erm, the community says: ... how the fuck can I get my money back?

Any ideas?

It's funny that when people have an opposing point of view, they are accused of being a troll.

So, when you make a statement like "They are giving you something for free, and your still finding a reason to complain", you're not communicating an intelligently expressed opposing viewpoint. You're provocating predictably negative reactions by deliberately misrepresenting facts. The technique known colloquially as... you got it, "trolling".

Ouch!

Back on topic, I agree with what most of you are saying. At first I quite enjoyed F3, especially once I came to terms with the fact that Fallout as we know it died along with Black Isle and that I'd just have to pretend that this isn't a Fallout title as much as BOS wasn't. I didn't mind Tactics so much, but then again, I didn't play much of it because I didn't like that is was basically just about combat. I enjoyed the time at the BOS base more than the actual missions. :)

While I'm glad that they are going to release the SDK, it doesn't really help the mess that is Fallout 3. Yes, people can make mods that will most definitely improve the core experience of F3 manifold, but alas it will never make it a true Fallout. Ever. It will make it a better Bethsoft game than it was, sure, but you see, you can maybe mod a little Fallout into Oblivion, but you can never mod Oblivion out of Fallout 3.

And the DLCs, well, meh. After what Beth has done to Fallout, I won't support their evil schemes any longer, never mind what they did with the Oblivion DLCs. Maybe some day we'll get a successor in spirit, as Fallout was to Wasteland, that won't be developed by a bunch of spineless crooks. I' had enough of F3, I'm pretty sure I won't see Rivet City and I won't complete the main quest but I don't give a flying dogs brown eye about it.

I'm going to go back to playing Vampire Bloodlines, I still owe it a play-through, especially after all the magnificent work done by the fan community on top of the already great if a little sloppy work by Troika. This is a game that just seems to get better and better the further you get. Don't remember the last time I've read/heard such convincing and mostly very well written dialogues accompanied by equally convincing character design and absolutely outstanding voice work.

Excuse my little product placement here, but that's a game to play if you haven't already. But even if you have, Fallout 3 is lame.

DLC my ass. I mean, I have never ever bought a download content for any game in my life and I'm not yet stupid enough to do so. I fooled around with this useless horse armour DLC on my friends CPU (he bought it, oh Heavens, help him!) and it certainly was not worth the pay. What are they gonna create for POS3 as a DLC I can only imagine. Perhaps a BoS Wizard Tower or maybe some Abandoned Deathclaw tunnels?
TES Construction Kit won't help POS3 either. You certainly won't be able to alter the game mechanics in order to add consequences of your actions nor you won't be able to recreate a turn based, isometric gameplay known from the canon. All you will able to do is to balance some issues and add new quests, monsters and shit. So why the hell bother with it?
All I know is that I was fucking cheated when I was assured by BethSoft that I will get a Fallout series successor. Cash please...

Broken Steel. Join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave remnants once and for all. Continues the adventure past the main quest. Scheduled for release in March.

This is the part that intrigues me. How will it be handled? Will the current endgame be reworked (preferably), handwaved, what? Do a few certain comrades no longer care about denying my destiny?

Given that untill now the ending was basicaly " get to walk behind Opti er whatever the hell they called him prime while he defacto plays the game foryou, and then you get to deal with the lamest endboss ever so that you can punch in 3 numbes so you can die. . .! the End!!!!!111!!1!1!! and the almost daily rant on the boards over their about it, to be blunt to me a more accurate way of putting it is THEY BLOODY CAVED IN!

I think Fallout3 could greatly benefit from rebalancing, but MOST importantly from passing all of its textures through Irfanview with an "amplify saturation" filter.

Since it does appear to have remnants of color I hope it would be the fastest, cheapest way to breathe life back into its world.

Operation: Anchorage. Enter a military simulation and fight in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe – the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders. An action-packed battle scheduled for release in January.

Hahahahahahaha.

Hahah- oh wait this isn't a joke.

At first I was bummed about not getting DLC on my PS3 for this game.

Now, not so much. The Pitt sounds like one of the Oblivion "wizard tower" style add ons. Broken Steel sounds gay, and the simulator war game in Alaska won't mesh well with the clunky controls FO3 has.

Oh well... back to Little Big Planet for me then.

Has anyone actually listened to the story of the Pitt and The Scourge from a specific member (forgot his name) in the Lyons Pride?

I never really bothered to talk with any members of the Lyon's Pride (they annoyed me).

But I do recall those Daring Dashwood radio shows mentioning The Pitt being another source of Slavers.

Paladin Kodiak says:

It's about 500 klicks to the northwest. Place is a nightmare -- three irradiated rivers coming together. People there were... not well.
But the Brotherhood of Steel came down on the place with a righteous hammer. They called it "The Scourge."

It was a Brotherhood operation. They marched in and swept the place clean. Most of the people there were half-mutated, cancerous, vile tings.
And these people... rape gangs, torture squads... it was pure chaos there. The Scourge is the best thing that could have happened to it.

This was way back, before the Citadel was fortified. Part of the early recon after the Brotherhood first arrived in this area.

One night, a squad of Brothers lead by Paladin Lyons swept into the city from over Mount Wash, tearing apart anyone who stood against them.
They were completely outnumbered. And still they razed that place to the ground.

As they swept through, the Brotherhood policed up every non-mutie child they could find. Turns out, there weren't that many.

Me and maybe twenty others. The younger we were, the less of a chance that we were mutated. It was ugly work, no doubt, but it had to be done.
I'll never forget the sight of the Brotherhood of Steel breaching the breast of the mountain at dawn.

Elder Lyons brought us all back to the Citadel. He said it was the safest place he knew of. This place was still being converted.

He put us in as Initiates and kept a watchful eye over us. He was tough, but he taught us to stay alive. The man is like a father to me.

Well, the gist of the story is that The Pitt was filled with horribly mutated humans with very few normal individuals (the Lyons Pride member was one of the few), the Brotherhood considered the entire area as a threat to the stability of their new outpost on the East Coast and launched what they called "The Scourge" or the systematic razing of the Pitt and all its mutated inhabitants, a dozen or two non-mutated humans were saved and enlisted as Initiates in the Brotherhood.

What this means is that The Pitt will most likely just be a collection of non-nondescript ruins or another smattering of random city-type areas with a few patches of wasteland, and it will be most likely extremely combat intensive. I seriously doubt it will be a full-fledged "town" if anything.

EDIT: Thanks Ausir.

Good to hear Bethesda caved! Rather unfortunate about the DLCs though.

Oh well. It makes very little difference in the end. The modding community was doing just fine without an *official* editor, now it's just a little easier to remake different areas in their desired image. Hopefully we'll get some good TCs out of this.

edit: RE: the Pitt, "oh sure, we're a town of despair and mayhem, and if you so much as look at me wrong i'll cut your eyes out! Now, how can I help you? Need directions to the shop?" :|

Iv been awating tools to get into some modding mysef...

Now I dont really want it, cause seriously, why doing Beth`s work? They clearly cant and DONT WANT to make an RPG. They focused on the action side. So why should we do their job for free and try to improve Fo3`s RPG side. :x

I was thinking about the same thing.
Modding is actually fixing unfinished dirty work the devs didn't bother to do, and they get the provits for it, not the modders!

But still...I want to play FO3 in ISO view and TB combat, with good dialogue and story. To achieve this, we need to think of a strategy :look:

Even in oblivion the finishing touch was done by the fans, it's nothing new.

It's true but Fallout 3 has a pretty bad main storyline. You can improve the appearance of the game and its gameplay. You could even improve its writing a bit here and there but the main storyline is really beyond repair.

Not really true. The main storyline, being the activation of Project:Purity, is perfectly salvageable. Of course, it would require making the NPC followers less assholish(Fawkes, I'm looking at you), and perhaps making an actual connection between Big Town and Little Lamplight by putting BT closer and having the residents send their kids to LL to grow up in relative safety, and making the Enclave and BoS suck less and your dad not be such a fucking idiot, but the main storyline itself is a fine idea.

The game does have an incalculable number of noteworthy problems (the elementary school level quality of its writing is most certainly one of them), but I really don't see the first-person camera as that much of an issue. I know it's been discussed before, but what would be the benefit of bringing the isomeric perspective to Fallout 3?

I wouldn't get lost that much? I always tend to get lost in FPP games.
