As I have my morning coffee (afternoon actually) I read the news to find some interesting topics...

I am interested to learn more about the United States involvement in the region. Are they are attracted to the oil reserves? I would assume so. I know they don't want a strong Russian presence there at least. Russia has some influence in the area, but I am rather uninformed on that topic, the geopolitical climate, and recent developments.
I am thinking that the US is trying to move in on the area, more so than before, much like they attempted with Cuba. Admittedly as I said I don't know enough to make such statements and present them as facts, but we know the US has placed "puppet" leaders into various countries, continues to do so, and may have tried to do that again, which brings up the next question; Is this going on in the Ukraine? It certainly seems to be. I see these conflicts and think of MGS to some extent. The talk of proxy wars being the main influence. These events seem to be "marketed" as being about democracy, but I'm not sure that is the primary motivation. It feels like rhetoric for the masses.
I know the US does this with the Middle East as well. It seems to be fairly transparent. Iraq comes to mind immediately. We seem to be greatly interested in Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and Pakistan. It is easy to see why with various allies in the region. I have no doubt that the United States strong-arms their way into certain areas to control the development of countries, destabilizing those who pose a threat, positioning the pieces for the inevitable Great War of the future. Who else has military bases all over the world, in such large numbers?
Are these thoughts unfounded? I have read a bit on geopolitics, the motivations of countries extending their sphere of influence, potential hot spots for conflict in the future, so on and so forth. I feel as if the imperialistic phases we went through in the past never really stopped. I have believed this for some time, but as I said before, I don't feel I know enough to claim this to be true. I know Russia is doing what they think best for their country, or at least Putin is anyway. I am attempting to see things from other countries points of view, outside the bubble that surrounds the United States, but I am finding it difficult to differentiate the truth from the bullshit. There are so many agendas at play here, when regards to media, as I am sure it is elsewhere across the world, especially in Russia and their state controlled media. I think the US does the same thing, although they are less obvious about it.
I really don't have a point in this wall of text. My main purpose is seeing what
you think of the subject.
