I loved how in MGS3, they gave up on giving people Russian accents and just said 'Oh, they speaking in Russian, but you hear it in English'
I LOOOOOVE a certain series of a WW2 war movies made in the Soviet Union. While it's mostly set in Russia and the Eastern front, it follows Hitler's HQ, Italy, England and America. I love it how each character speaks their nation's language and are from the actual country. Churchill and Roosevelt talking about the war? English. Mussolini talking with his officers? Italian. Hitler ranting against the Russians? German.
I think the Translation convention is the way to go if you can't find someone who speaks or writes the language.
Another awful thing to do is to throw in missplaced spanish words that are so basic no bilingual person would fall back on.
Like in ME3, with Vega saying things like "My abuela's Huevos Rancheros" no bilingual person would talk like that unless they are trying too hard to play up their LATINONESS while knowing very little spanish. Why would you call her your Abuela if you are then gonna conjugate the word in english for the possesive? Why not just say "Los huevos rancheros que hacia mi abuela" altho saying "Los Huevos de mi abuela" sounds more like a vulgar expression of disbelief.
In the movie there's a Russian voice over rather than subs. It sounds bad, but it's pretty well implemented.Ill take reading subs over hammy accents any day.
God, do I love it when the evil Russians joke to each other or talk to each other in Russian, and I know what they're saying.Side note, I really do enjoy it when I can understand someone speaking my native language in a movie, game or real life. Its like being in on a secret and no one else gets to know.
How does one be a part of a podcast?I think I will schedule a podcast for ME:A. I think I will have it be in two parts. One for pre-release and another for post-release. What do you guys think?
Well I liked the mass effect trilogy/DAI. I consider them something I like to call soft/lite RPG's. Its also what I call the newer Fallout's. (I like the newer fallout's to a degree sue me, New Vegas is basically fallout classic meets immersive sim and the Bethesda fallout's are basically walking simulator post apocalyptic rpg lite fps diablo open world games. Which is fine I guess)
In general more casualized, less min maxing, lack of certain staples of traditional CRPG's and etc. I feel there are plenty of more hardcore RPG's and some lighter ones. I dont think one is necessarily better but hardcore ones do have an edge for depth in writing/game play.
I have cautious optimism for Andromeda. One the one hand it can be a fun casual RPG with some nifty planet exploration and combat. On the other hand Bioware might totally include its SWTOR/DAI MMO bollocks intot he game and the writing team can hamfist "representation".
We usually set and a date and do it through Team Speak. We put the password up for the server so anyone can join. How does one be a part of a podcast?
Game Informer has a lot of info they released about ME:A: https://www.gameinformer.com/p/andromeda.aspxI kind of agree with this, I'll wait for a bit until I hear things from the game.

I am not impressed to say the lest.
What we get may just be mediocre but for all I know, the game is a masterpiece.
