New Vegas a bit rewritten and a bit redesigned

Why would Yao guia in Zion be lore breaking? Bears is bears. Are there no bears in Utah?
He didn't like 'em cause they are named as Yao Guais' because it's a name for mutated bears that chinese gave them when they were 'chillin' out' in camps. He dig too much into.

... Oh. I guess that's a stretch that they'd call them by the same name. We have like 8 names alone for spider crickets irl.

I personally don't consider OWB canon, I know it was just supposed to be goofy fun, but I don't really feel like it fits too well with the rest of the franchise. This isn't to say I have anything against OWB, I just can't bring myself to count it as canon.

For me it ties in too heavily with the other DLCs and base game to not count it as canon. Plus it's great fun. I don't see why I shouldn't count it as canon because it doesn't fit well. Big MT is an isolated area after all.

Then I might ask you, where else should Cazadors and Nightstalkers have their origin? Science madness of OWB is a no-no but gloomy science madness from Dead Money is okay? That's just goofy.

Hmmm, that's true, maybe more along the lines of semi-canon? Like maybe the Big MT does exist, and it's where Cazadores and Nightstalkers originate from, but some of the more...absurd parts, for the lack of a better word, aren't canon.

Do they 'have to' have an origin? I mean, let's say that a mutated panda species from a lab somewhere that tried to save them by making them more fertile and actually wanting to fuck migrated a hundred miles until they ended up in the area where the player is mucking about in; How would we get access to the lore of their origin when it is a hundred miles away? Why can't some things simply remain a mystery? A thing of legend? We could explore their origin in a later game or a DLC. Like OWB. Except 'not' OWB. Because it is shit. :postviper:

Yes, just like you 'have to' breath or bring back Hillary on the avatar.

Because why they should? :V

I disagree, I don't think that the player is entitled to have every answer handed to them on a silver platter. I find it shoehorned in whenever all the lore to explain the mysteries are conveniently located near enough so that the player can get their answer. Hell, in real life we don't always get answers to our questions. Some things that happen remain a mystery. It isn't until experts are brought in that they are able to unveil those mysteries and expose them for what they really are. And I don't exactly see the wasteland as an equivalent to our real world where experts and knowledge and resources can be allocated to such things with ease. We are not entitled to an explanation for everything. They could have an origin, a backstory that the developers know of but which they won't tell the player of. Something that they might save for a future game or DLC or whatever. But just cause there is an origin doesn't mean it should be shoehorned in. Nighstalkers being a hybridization experiement? I'm fine with that. It makes sense. But sadly that comes tied with OWB and I can't fucking stand OWB.

As to Hillary, no. Why does everyone want Hillary back anyway? Ya'll seemed sick and tired of her by the time I stopped using her and now I see post after post clamouring to have her back. It ain't happening.

The same can be said in just a very powerful excuse for bethestardia - it's not like their games are lore-breaking, we just don't always get the answer to the questions, especially for 'why'.
And I also think it's more wise to divide personal discontent with OWB and it's lore. Especially when it's makes sense. For example, I can't stand Fallout 2 but it's not wise to discard the lore of F2.

It's just a convenient example.

We've never seen anything aside from front panel in the game, so it's not for players to judge. The awesum medical and non-penis-canina enhancer is a headgear placed on the left and right eyes respectively, check in-game desciption. It's connected to pip-boy via cord which is not very reliably for handheld device. Which Pip-Boy never was. Stop it. bethesda never was lore breaking in this case, cool down hate a little.

Who said I was hating? fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Pip-Boy_2000

I was just stating the very second sentence of the third paragraph that it's implied the 2000 original model was a handheld model.

Who wrote this and what based on?.. "J.E. Sawyer's Fallout RPG"....
While Sawyer no longer works at Interplay and the game is non-canon, it includes details about factions, locations and other plot elements from Van Buren, such asCaesar's Legion and Hecate, therefore such information may be considered semi-canon, just like Van Buren leaks, as long as it doesn't contradict further canon sources
Dude, it's like six years after Fallout 2 with established facts about Pip-Boy. It's the source as canon as Fallout Tactics at best.
And there's no such thing as 'early 2000' since it should've been named differently as early model.

Alright? Then they should remove that statement in their wikia, since it's not part of the lore history but rather a note.

Glad to see that I am not the only one who couldn't stand OWB. God that was just too over the top for my liking.

Can we get this thread back on rails?

Anyway, how about something that is apparent in all the DLCs and the base game, WILD WASTELAND.

I mean, it is kind of silly just like Fallout 2 references, whale corpses, etc. However, it is entirely optional and can be just not taken, thus removing it from the game.

I always pick this trait as it just makes the wasteland a bit less dull and fun. However, if it breaks the lore too much I would cut it out.

That said, not all instances where it appears is lore breaking. So, what do you think about the wild wasteland? Which of the things would you remove?

None of it should be removed, it's the perk you take if you want to see non-canon shit. Cutting it out would only work to remove content from the game that was made *explicitly* so that no one could complain about lore breaks.
