Where will the next Fallout take place?

I'd like Chicago,Detroit,Denver all three seem pretty logical to progress the series. Maybe take place just a short time after the 2nd Hoover dam battle. Maybe sum info on the past player characters too not being alive or anything just what happened to these very powerful and influential people.

All of these areas have great potential as Fallout settings. I especially like the more-unconventional ones, like Louisiana, Florida, or Hawaii. In fact, pretty much anywhere south of California could be incredibly interesting. Another idea, of course, would be Arizona/New Mexico. To my understanding, these would have been in Van Buren. But I can just think of all the weird factions in post-apocalyptic Arizona. In addition to your standard frontier-livers, crime families, and tribes, you could have a totally not real Biosphere-type thing inhabited by a bunch of crazy scientists. Or a group of ghouls living in the Grand Canyon. And New Mexico... well, it is the great Nuke homeland...

Come to think of it though I doubt they'd do it Hawaii would be awesome probably didint even get nuked but the cities would be run down but in good shape and you would have tribes in the wilderness too.

I`d love to go back to Chicago with MW BoS. I think Enclave could be fitted there too, but as protogonist`s starting faction. Basicly I always wanted Fallout game where you play as Enclave agent. I`d even go for new enclave base on one of Michigan Lake`s island (Enclave 2.0 :P)

Enclave is fine as long as they`re scheming shadow organization, not main fighting force.

Please people, not more Enclave.
Remnants, okay. But no more huge main shadow organization operating from a secret base, planning the conquest of the wasteland.

We need new factions, not rehashes.

Ok. I get it and you are right. Still Chicago outpost is probably there and I`d love to start as a member. On the other hand I don`t want to begin in the Vault again.

---Edit---

Crushed Enclave can be very interesting. From mightiest force in Wasteland to crumbling remenants fighting for survival.

I agree. I don't see how they can be a real threat to anyone now. Fallout 3 went overboard with the Enclave, so it is hard for me to imagine them being the same in a future title. The small outpost in Chicago won't be able to accomplish much. Remnants are the only way to go with the Enclave. If I see another BoS against Enclave battle I will lose it. We need to move on with new factions and threats. I would rather see the Legion personally.

Enclave would have to be almost more shady with agents and all being a small force like NV BoS and Veronica.

I would go even farther and say that any Enclave forces left over might not even choose to call themselves Enclave anymore. Without proper leadership, resources, and motivation they won't have a reason to stay with a dying organization.

True. I was also kinda thinking it'd be cool to see/help that progression in game.

Nha it has to be either the US, I could dig Canada being a good location and maybe northern mexico but it would be a push to set it any place else.

theres two takes to this question,
either we stick to the list of possible locations, from the original post, or
imho, its anybodys wish basically.

fallout is a post nuclear scenario, meaning this post-nuclear world would be, well, the whole world. china is mentioned in the games. europe would exist at the time.

australia would be staggeringly relevant, due to the whole mad max scenario.

i think anywhere would be able to lend its own charm to post-apocallypse. personally ive always wanted to see northern scandinavia all fall-outed.

The problem with having Scandinavia, Australia or any other place aside from North America and maybe CHina si that it doesn't connect itself to Fallout and it would just be a Post-Apo game set in X country that happens to be called fallout, you gotta connect it with the Existing Lore, and adding Power Armor and Mutants to Australia would be pretty lazy and kind of a cop out.

Even if their forces are small and main leaders dead they still are most technologicaly advanced organisation in wasteland. Even remnants in NV with their equipment could turn the course of Battle of Hoover Dam.

Technology hasn't done the Brotherhood much good, so I don't see how a couple dozen Remnants can do much of anything. The Remnants at Hoover Dam did jack shit IMO. They did about as much good as the Great Kahns did. :|

Well, the ending of F:NV for Remnants said something diferent.

But my point is not to argue as we agree in most important aspect. Enclave is nearly destroyed and in heavy decline now. It should never be depicted as main opposing force and army (as it was in F3...).

On the other hand I do think that it`s not so far fetched to concider they may have an outpost near Chicago. Great place to start the game I think.

Totally agree have to stick to USA and maybe dip into Canada and Mexico or you loose fallout.

a valid point
but the only valid point ;D

but still valid.

moving outside of usa, you do lose power armor, ghouls, super mutants etc, since they are endemic to north america, according to lore.

this is actually one of the reasons i'd like to see another place, simply to move away from the muties and the super-tech, but that becomes a matter of taste.
and i am sure after a while, i would miss the elements that make fallout fallout.
