Why do people think New Vegas was actually good?

Now he is butthurt because someone simply checked his ip like all staff does when someone is acting like a cunt. Why would you be upset about that unless you had something to hide? What would I share? The state and city that you live in? Would I send a package of freshly wrapped turds to your doorstep? I don't have your address so I can't do that. Even if I did I would not do that. Because you are not worth the effort and I'm actually a pretty nice guy when I am not being an asshole to idiot kids that are just seeking a dopamine fix.

I know it does not have to really do with the topic but it is somewhat related.
I have been playing FNV again with some more restoration mods that bring back missing content. FNV was already a more alive world than FO3 ever was but with these mods there are suddenly a load more NPCs roaming around around Vegas such as NCR mercenaries and NCR deserters.

FNV despite its flaws feels like such a more realized world than FO3 ever was on its best where only a few pieces felt somewhat well fitting.

I think this is all just background stuff and it would have been better if the player could interact more with it but I am already glad that it is just there because it gives the impression that the designers knew what the world should feel like.

My only frustration is that these mods cause various slow downs (yes I have put in mods that expand memory and such)

That last part is why I don't care as much for New Vegas/Fallout 3/Fallout 4 when it really boils down to it. As soon as you try to start fixing the issues with any of those games it starts crashing, memory leaking, bogging down, and breaking shit. All those extra NPC's are pretty cool because they make sense, especially in the New Vegas version, unlike Fallout 3's version of the mod where people just randomly walk towards settlements without any rhyme or reason to their route. They are just extra people that happen to be walking around and getting attacked by mobs.

Either way it's clear which shitty buggy game is better than the other shitty buggy games. One of them was made by people that know how to write dialog and quests and the other was manufactured by a crack team of retards that had to cater to Todd Howard's method of putting objects every couple feet to discover.

I get you. I find the bugs very irritating too and I wish there were patches that could completely resolve the issues and make this a smooth well running experience.
I guess I am a bit more patient with these flaws as FNV remains one of the few games I can play over and over again.

I godhonestly hate Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 and The Outer Worlds is not the spiritual sequel I have been looking for because of its limitations, shortcomings, and the goddamn SJW pandering. (yes lesbians and asexual people exist and there are indeed smart and intelligent women and incompetent men but being so on the nose with agenda pushing is insulting)

So that leaves FNV for me (you and I have already been talking about FO2 mods in private).

The only thing that keeps me from modding and replaying New Vegas is the inevitable crashes that I do not want to deal with.

The funniest part is that the OP of this thread complained that everyone in /v/ was saying he was a troll for making a thread shitting on New Vegas.
What's worse is that he says "I keep posting about this" and getting the same result. Maybe, knock it off? It's like your putting your opinion out there, people aren't liking it and you're doing nothing to refine, clarify, or strengthen what you're saying.

Unfortunately this shit can happen without modifying shit. Prepatches that is. My New Vegas on Steam still freezes and then crashes after being frozen for 10 minutes if I use "Continue" and not "Load" without any mods installed.

It's weird even for fans of Bethesda games. I kinda wanna know if it's been your opinion since launch or around that time or if that's recent due to the Wastelander's update @das-brut'el-dood

I liked the large-ish world, good storyline, good voice acting, good atmosphere, etc. Combat also finally felt like FO 1 and 2, or at least not too different. Sounds, music, etc. was good.

IIRC... I only had three peeves with the game [NV].
  • Invisible collision objects that exist inside the explorable map, and even interior locations.
Try shooting (or throwing a spear) at a target underneath the banisters inside the casino at Prim.
The empty space underneath stops bullets, and some thrown weapons will stick to the air.
  • Invisible borders at the edge of the maps—with holes in them!
This means you can stray outside of the map without realizing it, and not see the way back in.
  • Fast travel (in hardcore) is denied when the PC is overloaded, or has a crippled leg. These are the exact times
that a player would need it; it's nuts.

I mean the last point makes sense and should be the case even on regular mode, but hey, I never play regular mode.

It makes no sense to me. The purpose of map travel is to bypass the time while retraversing old ground. By withholding the option to bypass the time, the player must sit through the entire trek in realtime; in the case of crippled legs, realtime at a snails pace. I have played the game where I needed to have the PC return to the doc in Goodsprings from the NCR outpost... using limping baby-steps.
_______

Aha... I have a fourth peeve. The game wastes a trait for Wild Wasteland, instead of just making it the regular state of the world, as it should be.

*This is doubly bad, because the Wild Wasteland effects weren't ever worth it, and in at least one case it was damaging to the setting; live aliens.

What do you think the point of "Hardcore Mode" is? Fast travel is not a magic power in universe, it's an abstraction for real time travel, if you have broken legs it wouldn't make sense that you could book it out of there. In general Hardcore should just disable Fast travel period.

You said it yourself, an abstraction for real time travel, which in a sense you agreed with Gizmo that it's also re-traversing the old grounds, so there's really no reason at all to prevent players from using the mechanics in case of overloaded with items or having crippled legs. They just need to make it so that time passes by accordingly as a consequence of using the features under such state, which may or may not lead to less than optimal outcome when tasked with timed quests (if there's any in this game, I've forgotten much about it and I doubt they put any considering target audience).

But yeah, I also dislike the game's implementation of fast travel as if it's some kind of teleportation. Would prefer if there exist Fallout 1&2's overworld map travel and/or caravan running to accommodate instant travel from one settlement to another, complete with random encounters to protect the caravan from raiders and wildlife.

I did find a mod that solved this problem, at least with some objects.
