Fallout 4 gameplay videos leaked, Bethesda starts taking them down

Nah, Charisma chcks are usually just placebos. They either give you some experience or help you get more money from quests. None of them really open any branching paths in quests and there isn't a single quest with a pacifist route. Even quests about building stuff needs you to clear the are of hostiles.

That's disappointing, especially for a Fallout. Seems like the expression TES with guns is even more appropriate than before. Still, the game looks fun if you don't consider it as a Fallout and I'd buy it if I had a decent PC.

That was usually the deal with FO3 too, untill FONV.
We are unlikely to get any similar kind of break this time :/

I do like the city ruins. I disliked the "capital wasteland" ones, and I still think FO4 leaves tons to be desired, but they did tone down a little bit on the mohawk-statues thing. My complaints would be the expected, it's very cluttered, and it often feels like a theme-park of fun and excitement, than an actually bombed out world - or even less a rebuilt world.

I do not buy into purposely shanty looking anything, be it the stupid pipe-guns or the perpetually junktown-ish settlements, hell even Junktown probably got their shit together within a few more years, swapped that bus-wreck wall for a real wall, and so on, it's progress!
What on earth is a fucking bus doing on the roof of a house!? <--and that is me liking the ruins. Everything is relative!

Yeah, Fallout 3 really had a problem with the coherence of it's world. The world was made to be interesting without really caring about the realism. Although that's not a big problem when it isn't overdone, like in Fallout 2 and more particularly New Reno, the entire world of the third one made no sense.

That's one of the dangers with open-world games. It is a lot harder to make a credible and interesting world when you need to show it in its totality than when you only create a few locations and put all your time on it. You can see this in the size of towns by exampe, which is okay in Fallout given the setting but not so good in Skyrim.

FO4 does have more coherence and interconnection in it's world than FO3 did... but it still suffers from the Theme Park world syndrome and it obviously doesn't really come close to the worlds of the Originals and new Vegas.

not so good in Skyrim.

Ever tried going back to Morrowind (or to, if you didn't play it to begin with), after having played Skyrim?
After a slight period of getting used to the graphics, they haven't even aged that badly, especially the environment - and in a way, it even feels a bit comforting to be back in that "obviously fake" world, that doesn't try to contain as many wind-wavy grasses as possible - but - the vision they had... Skyrim had nothing compared, and the few big "whoah"-ish elements were very typical, like dragons or big mountains, but nothing like the very unique architectural styles of House Hlaalu, or even more impressive, the divine city of Vivec

Can you imagine that I daaared to hope for something similar, on my first way to "The College of Winterhold"... can you imaaagine... I daaared to hope

Yeah Fallout 4 does but places like Lexington have zombie ghouls and raiders, you'd think someone would of established a society with how easy it was to murder everything hostile there. You would think places like that would start thriving with societies of people trading goods and other things but what do I know?

The College wasn't so bad. What disappointed me was the 4 houses which were supposed to be a city:grin:.

You're right about the towns of Morrowind. I haven't played the game a lot however because the only time I tried it, which was a few years ago, I wasn't used to old rpgs mechanics and I found the game tedious as hell. The graphics didn't bother me, but I really hated the combat. I still remember entering Vivec and searching the Morag Tong hideout, which I never found:grin:. That city was huge. Even the smallest towns had interesting architecture.

I'll need to try that game again one day. There's a team of modders who are recreating Morrowind in the Skyrim engine, so I might try this when it's finally finished. The mod is called Skywind.

Sergeant Politeness, Walpknut, zegh8578 What do you think of the graphics of New Vegas?
When people here and on other forums wrote in their post that the graphics of FO4 look old and something from a 2006 game I was rather confused as the models are much more detailed than FNV even if I don't like the designs.

I do have to say I have not been following the latest releases of AAA tier games that much like Assassin's Creed, GTAV or MGSV, nor did I play Skyrim which was often brought when people said that FO4 had not progressed much from that point.
While I have played a few more current releases such as Mass Effect 3 and Deus Ex Human Revolution I have been mostly busy with games that are a decade or even more older.

But in response to these reactions I decided to check some of the gameplay videos of GTAV, MGSV and The Witcher 3, really looking at them from a visual point of view, and I am starting to understand why people feel about the graphics this way.
Still it has been somewhat of a shock to me as I feel as I have been in a form of stasis for a while and only recently woke up, realizing how much change and progress there has been made in these last years and the realization that Fallout 3 is eight years old and FNV five years.

Perhaps I have played FNV so many times that I have become a little to comfortable to it looks, content, gameplay and so on.

That and that there is also many mods on the New Vegas Nexus that make the game look tons better and more detailed. Fallout 4 doesn't look like it progressed much from Skyrim. It really does look like a game from 5 years ago instead of a 2015 game. Hell there are graphic and texture mods that make Skyrim look better then Fallout 4. CD Projekt Red proved you can make a detailed, open world game with good graphics. Bethesda really doesn't have any excuses anymore.

I'm also surprised that people critizise the graphics so much. I mean, from what I've heard and seen, there are plenty of big issues with Fallout 4. The writing is not very good, the dialogue wheel is horrible, the voice protagonist doesn't add much, the quests don't offer different outcomes, there isn't that much actual roleplaying in the game... the list of possible complaints is huge.

Yet, most people are just complaining about the technical side of the game. This is probably because most mainstream games have fantastic graphics today and gamers got used to it. The Witcher 3 and GTA 5 by example showed that you can have beautiful open-world games, which means that Bethesda really has no excuses now. Another reason behind that criticism might be that people expected fantastic graphics given the long development of the game. While there was a huge step between Oblivion's graphics and Skyrim's, the difference isn't that big between Skyrim and Fallout 4. They're definitely way better than in New Vegas though.

Still, the graphics of Fallout 4, although outdated, really aren't that bad and I find the artistic direction pretty good even if the fact that it's colourful seems a little bit strange after playing the earlier Fallout. Then again, good graphics are more a bonus than a necessary component of a game for me.

To use an argument used frequently by Beth fans: Mods are gonna fix it.

Part of the problem is the engine, it is pretty outdated by now, and they still insist on using it for all of their games. It's not just the pure visual presentation, which can be eventually upgraded with better textures. But it's pretty much everything, from the animation to facial expressions, lyp-sinc etc. You name it. It just shows how limited they are because of using the framework of an outdated engine. Take the damage mechanics in the game, still the same from Fallout 3, to Skyrim and Oblivion. This makes it very repetitive and boring in the game. Not to mention that you get many situations where something will look good, maybe outstanding even, while it is interupted by some silly animation or character/object with low details.

Nice to see that modders have their priorities straight. :V "Mods will fix everything including my boner!"

Women without cocks?
How boring.
And where the hell is the nude male mods huh?
Damn sexist modders...
I wanna see male characters walk around with raging stiffies damnit!

(Seriously though, I don't really get people who get nude mods. The well developed sex mods I can understand but just nude mods feel kinda pointless. Do they really walk around completely naked in third person? Or do they just switch in and out every once in a while to oggle at Ms Protagonist's static titties? What's the point? The only time I ever download a mod that is as absurd as the nudity mods is when I've given up on taking the game seriously at all. It's when I don't give a flying fuck about consistency or lore any more and I just wanna dick around. So yeah, this does show the mindset of the Fallout 4 audience. What do weed? Shitty titties! When do we need them? Yesterday! Now if they could just bring out a mod that turned super mutants yellow...)

My guess is that they need their porn in their games as they can't go five minutes without jacking off. With porn and nude mods you get the best of both worlds!:V No longer do you have to miss watching porn while playing the newest and over hyped mediocre title. With nude and porn mods you can play the newest games and furiously masturbate at the same time!

I think they said at some point during Fallout 3 development that they don't want players to feel like they cut-themself off from quests, and in general opposing the idea that you open new branches in quests. I guess they want that all players, at all times, have the exact same experience. So naturally high intelligence or charisma will not yield different results - not on the level like New Vegas. Kinda reminds me to Mc Donalds. You know, this policy that no matter where you eat, it should always taste the same ... fast food gaming. I have to admit though, Todd Howard would make a great Ronald MC Donald.
