Personally, I support a right to bear arms. A militia is a group of civilians working to protect each other. A militia usually disbands when not in use, ergo keeping your firearm even when not fighting is still important.
There's a shit ton of paperwork and background checks involved to legally own a firearm, and the price is astronomical for even a handgun. Firearms aren't simply a "Lemme drop $50" and move on. I'd check the price for a cheap one, but I'm at school, so researching firearm prices on a school computer might look a little sketchy. I'll update when I get out.
The first 10 amendments on the Constitution should be untouchable, especially the first two. Those two are up there because they're the most important. The First allows you to speak your mind and the Second allows you to defend yourself and (if needed) take back the first. I think the biggest issue with shootings, hell let's go with gun violence in general, is poverty and mental health. Too many people in poverty turn to violent crime to keep afloat, and psychopaths want to kill people. Guns don't do the trigger pulling. Desperate men needing money to pay rent do. Guns don't load themselves and go emptying all over a group of children (don't take that out of context). Mentally ill people do.
If we'd start reforming the education system to focus more on getting a job than learning how to read William fucking Shakespeare, employment would rise drastically. If we'd actually help mentally ill people instead of diagnosing fucking fidgeting with pills, then the mental health situation would be better. It's a societal issue, not a firearms issue, and taking rights isn't the solution.
