Nerding out on internet purchases

The thought only just occurred to me... but would Steam purchases count?

I went years without adding any funds to my Steam Wallet, and I kept buying things here and there because the Steam Trading was so profitable, my Steam Wallet kept increasing. But..... then I made a bunch of really sloppy purchasing decisions, which I'm certainly saddened by. Bought a Dota2 Lina Arcana when it was on sale for about half off, expecting to turn a quick buck in a week, only to lose money when it dropped in value as everyone and their mother was liquidating their own to buy OTHER items that went on sale. Purchased a few of those on-sale items to rebound a little, then THEY lost value when they were being liquidated to fund the purchases of other items- also on sale! So now my latest purchase was 2 Dota2 Phantom Assassin Arcana, one from the store for $28, one from the market for $29 which is upgraded, with the hope that THIS TIME will be different and I'll be able to sell one of them for upwards of $29 when the sale ends in 2 days, instead of repeating the same trend and losing more money. ~_~

If Valve makes another random sale and THOSE start losing their value due to mass liquidation.....

Well, at least I really like the Phantom Assassin Arcana. It's damn purty! =D

Damn, it really is the 21st century isn't it? This sounds just like something you would hear a couple of day traders talking about at lunch...

Well that stands to reason... considering I've returned to schooling to pursue another degree, this time in Business, with a focus on Entrepreneurial Investing, and my almost-2-decades-long passion for business and investing are the reason why I gravitated towards virtual markets. =)

And I don't even have a PS3. I just got some extra funds, was looking around, spotted the collector's edition for 40 euro's. And I thought, I don't reaaally need it, right? Well when I remembered it has a comic book, no, *the* amazing fantastic comic book, I knew that one second hand copy was to be mine.

How I feel right now:

Anyone interested in a second hand New Vegas copy for ps3? Standard edition. ;)

I'm confused. You bought not 1, but TWO copies of FONV for PS3 (one Standard, and now one Collector's Edition) yet don't own a PS3, yourself?

No I bought the Collector's Edition for everything but the game, so if anyone is interested in taking it off my hands. . . (it was a joke)

I just spent just over $100 (my average months fun money) just for four t-shirts, but all by hobby artists who put stuff on RedBubble where companies or artists can put there symbols or pictures on shirts and other things. I normally rarely buy clothes and only so I have decent looking clothes that are also functional for weather or work. I've never payed more than $10 for a shirt and it feels extravagant, but I no these aren't mass-produced and the artists get money they'd otherwise never earn.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Yeah I got all my t-shirts from redbubble too.

Goon: It's in spanish.

Me: What?

Goon: It's in spanish, the whole game and comic book, it's all in spanish.

Me: I want that son of a bitch dead.

I want you to get this fuck where he breathes! I want you to find this nancy-boy second-hand seller, I want him DEAD! I want his family DEAD! I want his house burned to the GROUND! I wanna go there in the middle of the night and I wanna PISS ON HIS ASHES!

So yeah I am now the proud owner of an english new vegas collector's edition with spanish ps3 copy of the game, and a spanish copy of all-roads.

I don't care how much work this takes I am like taking some stickers or some shit and pasting over every text bubble in this book.

Son of a bitch.

Fuck this, it's getting shipped back. Fuckin 40 euro's man. Shoulda gotten it on an online second hand marketplace in the first place. Already found one for at least half the price.

*sifflote*

As to nerding, hm.
Culture products ?
Mkay, but !

That being something to stand out, talk about (along with some "vibration speaker, be it @home (fixed) or a portable one (I use one on my pro desk, no hp but music coming from the old, heavy wood & stone desk = surprise for most if not all newcomers (ah, politics).

As to cultural products, not sure what I would consider, that said, they are more of option over time limited availability so far (out of the one received, for about 1/4 to more of the ratio for years now (communication between social being ..)

Pas si simple.

That'll learn ya! >=D

Well I'm still getting a V for Vendetta hardcover copy, and I'm planning on purchasing that big black tome "The Chronicles of Conan." So at least I got that going for me.

Yes. They also have lovecraft, but I'm less sure whether I'll enjoy lovecraft as much.

Edit: Just ordered the conan tome.

Yeah, I have Gollancz's Necronomicon and Eldritch Tales, which is basically 95% of Lovecraft's work (not counting his letters).
I've seen that Conan book too, and it's pretty much the same take when it comes to format, cover, paper quality etc. If that's the case, you might have fun finding some printing errors here and there - proofreading doesn't seem to be Gollancz's favorite job. Still, great and affordable editions if you're looking for complete works.

Just realized, which Akratus' "damn, shouldn'a done that" moment helped remind me, I never followed up on whether my latest buys would cost me or pay for themselves, in that topic of Steam purchases I brought up a few weeks ago.

Well, turns out I was right, the trend continued and my investment turned into another costly liability. Serves me right for observing predictable, repeated trends and postulating that "this one time" it would go the other way. XD

So I lost a good $50-75 on these poor decisions, but the last few weeks I've been making back good money on other purchases, which if continued, would net me $30 in a few weeks. Then if I were to just liquidate my failed investments and cut my losses, that would lower my lost money to $10-35, so combined I'd have recouped my losses if I keep this up. Sadly, Valve has decided that RIGHT NOW would be an excellent time to start implementing new rules to "prevent scams", which makes using their Market less and less convenient. Typical. I figure out a way to dig myself out of a hole, and fate decides that a mudslide is in order. ~_~

But y'know what? In for a penny, in for a pound! I'm mining that fucking mudslide for gold! So even if I'm delayed in digging myself out, I'm not gonna let anything stop me from beating this bitch. =)
