The NCR Ending Is Canon

I wouldn't mind Bethesda choosing the Fallout NV canon ending, there were only four endings and they were all sufficiently vague about what the future held; as long as they have Obsidian write the actual (hypothetical) game I don't give a flying fuck.

NCR is so boring, and unless they collapse there's little Obsidian can do apart from making a totally new setting (not... bad actually).

It seems likely that the next west coast Fallout game will be set in Legion territory after Caesar's death so it would make sense to have NCR be the victors.

However it would be more interesting if Caesar won. That's really open ground that can lead up to many things, though a civil war is a very recurring theme.

What would be the most interesting setting for the next proper Fallout if it turns out the Legion victory is canon? It would have to be the core location for the upcoming civil war.

Assuming a Legion victory is canon, the most likely ideas for a follow up are:
- The Core region, as the NCR looks to stop the Legion before it's too late.
- Legion territory, having collapsed into chaos and violence following the power vacuum in the wake of the death of Caesar.

I'd imagine it could the war torn realms of California, with the Legion shortly after their victory over the NCR. That could work as a setting for the fall of the Legion.

Eh. California is sort of "been there and done that" and I feel the spirit of going from place to place in that region wouldn't be there without the traditional fast travel mechanic from the originals. Maybe Arizona or Colorado? I feel it would work best in the capital of the Legion, wherever that turns out to be.

Well... the capital seems to be New Vegas... Caesar wants to turn it into his Rome, but yeah Arizona and Colorado is a pretty good place for a setting.

A DLC for this theoretical Fallout set in Legion-ruled Vegas would be interesting.

That would be a big DLC... but yeah that would be a great idea.

Well, maybe it could just be set in the northern half. Mostly within the urban ruins, Freeside, and The Strip. Most of the southern half would be just outposts and villages with barely any resistance in existence anyways.

Yeah that would be cool. A three/four/five way battle for the capital.

Why do you say that like its a good thing?
All I'm saying is if your going to criticize Fallout 4, That's COMPLETELY ok. However it's not ok to unjustifiably hate on it because you dislike the company.

Dr Fallout I know you're holding out for a Legion victory but it just seems unrealistic, I think the best thing you can hope for is a Legion civil war Fallout where you can side with a traditionalist Legion faction.

Why not? I mean, in what way?

That's EXACTLY what I want!

Well the Legion campaign was under-developed to begin with making it unappetizing to filthy profligates and people wanting fully developed campaigns and, Fallout has traditionally gone with the positive karma endings.

I thought you wanted a Legion victory with NCR going to shit, that would be cool as well and would allow NCR to redeem itself but you know, most people hate Legion with a passion so, NCR/Wild-Card/House victory, yay...

Hmm... but... but... so interesting...

I did, but a civil war is what would happen anyway. Yay... boring...

It is increasingly an issue for the Fallout series that it is pulling itself out of even the post-post apocalyptic world. A Mr House or even a Wild Card ending would not be a good thing if we want Fallout to remain "post-apocalyptic". On the other side, the NCR are becoming increasingly more "civilised". I'd be pissed off if raiders and deathclaws were still running around the Core Region because it would just feel like nothing had changed since Fallout 2.

Why do people hate the Legion? Because they hurt our liberal sensibilities? That's the point of an evil faction. Legion territory would be a great place for the next Fallout game because they're an interesting faction with a lot of mystery still surrounding them, and one that remains within the "post-apocalyptic" world. Plus, their territory is one yet to be explored and could take yet more elements from the cancelled Van Buren project.

Whether a Legion victory is canon or not, Legion territory would be a great place to visit for the next Fallout game.
