  • What do you think of Patton tanks series? I get furious when they made the pre-war tanks in Fallout 4 having this weird dual barrel main gun. And also too inflated rear compartment that i doubt the turret could traverse full circle. Then i was told that those are supposedly inspired by Patton tanks.

And to think that in the classic games Nuka-Cola was just a tiny, tongue in cheek, easter egg consumable making fun of Coca-Cola.

    And that was it.

Might be inspired by ST-2 Tank.

Well as you may have noticed Risewild, Bethesda has taken a lot more elements of FO1 & 2 more 'serious' or to absurd levels in their games such as the 50s retrofuture setting, aliens, and of course continue to revise the lore use as FEV and Super Mutants.
Ignore everything after FO1, 2, and FNV.

And how those 2nd gen jet fighter evolved into 3rd gen and so on, especially with this whole "Fighter Mafia" term thing. About certain historical clique in USAF.

A tank packed with so much countermeasures including but not limited to signal jammer against ATM, NxRA plates, Active Protection System against Sabot round, is probably the closest thing to modern equivalent of "Super-heavy tank". Wouldn't you agree?

Heh, makes me remember my reading of Dark Age of Technology and subsequent Iron Men rebellion. It is said that DAoT Humanity of 40K switched from computer heavy missiles based weaponry, to direct fire and relatively "dumb" and "manual" energy cannon or kinetic gun.

Well it's basically the whole thing behind Dune. No "Thinking-Machines" in the image of men.

Though they did shoot tanks with it, it even had it's own AP round, though it was rushed in development and lost a lot of oomph at range. there are stories of Brits taking captured German 75mm rounds and putting them into American cases.

I don't know anything about that. But when you look at the design history behind the Sherman it was always meant to use the 75mm against tanks if necessary. It's penetration values have been comparable to the Soviet 76mm. It was just not a "tank hunter". It was a medium tank. When the Sherman was first used though it was supperior to any German tank of that time.

Exactly. It was meant to go up against anything it encountered. Sure people didn't count on it going up against super armored tanks that barely worked and if you look up the numbers of those fielded and encountered are widely over represented in media.

It's less impressive when you realize it's heavily segmented. It's like more than 300 shots glued together, played by several guys. I like the Opposing Force one better.

Yeah I saw that one as well. Crazy stuff. Now that you mention it I didn't notice that it was segmented. I can't even imagine how many tries it required for just one moment where everything lines up perfectly ...
