  • Turkey's invading Syria to obliterate the Kurdish resistance there, and the 2nd most vapid official reaction (after Trump) was our very own

Apart from hyperpowers like the US, I always find so eery when countries let themselves get accustomed to hostile conflict to the degree of posessing a military force with a lot of recent experience - or armed and active paramilitary groups like the Grey Wolves. There's an inherent savagery to it, that most "common sense" would suggest that we have shed in our modernity, but that clearly we have not

Heh, “shed in our modernity”. We’re a flawed creation, zegh. As long as there are shaved monkeys there will be war, and profiteering, and all that happy shit that comes with violence.

Oh, for sure. These are constant reminders, and so is geopolitics in general. Not to sound all "cynic edge", but geopolitics in particular perfectly demonstrate our hard, unrelenting, uncompromising biology, we overrun our opponents according to demand, and individual suffering drown in almost trivial political maneuvers and actions that blanket entire populations.
Anyone else gets a kick from encouraging and starting up a birthday song for someone you know don't want it?

Somos is interesting. Somos sodot would be even cooler.
I just realized Norwegian does not have a word for 'amputee', we have to say the whole thing "person who has had a limb of theirs amputated"

I guess we got some older terms for things that might have been more common in the past, but I'm guessing those terms exist in any community that has experienced (or still do) ailments common with lack of modern medicine

Sucks if you're into Norwegian amputee porn. Gotta type in half a novel before you can pull your pud.

Why not just 'armless' or 'legless'?
I'm not sure exactly how I feel about Jodie Foster

Better than feeling obsessed with her and going for Reagan right?

Indeed! Not a day goes by that I do not appreciate my rather ambivalent attitude towards Jodie Foster, precisely because of that. Life is precious, and Jodie Foster is simply not worth throwing it all away for.

Pre-Contact Jodie Foster was awesome. Then she turned into a dyke with a political opinion. Whatever, Hollywood.
Today some kiddo told me - twice - to "take the red pill", like, outright, unironically. Almost endearing in its naive directness there
Um, some pcgamer article seem baffled that NPCs in GTAVO are *not really* playing on slot machines, but going through animations instead

Most gaming magazines were good, back in the day.
Now most gaming sites suck. Anyone can be a gaming writer/"journalist", even people that don't like or play games.

Gaming magazines only seemed good because you didn't have any way to fact check them or compare them with anything else. They always sucked.

Maybe where you are. When I was young gaming magazines in my area were right on point.
They only showed pics of a game, what genre the game is, if it has any new concepts, etc.
Basically they would report on the games and what they actually were.
There's a lil red clover outside my window, that my eye always catches in such a way I always mistake it for a bird's head or something
    zegh8578
    zegh8578
It's like the clover is peering into my livingroom, something that's not completely unthinkable around here, I've had several magpies peer inside, as well as cats

Get Twitter on your phone while you´re in Spain, she says - don´t remember password, so, locked out - I go to my mail to unlock
    zegh8578

So now I have to do the whole goddamn dance, "Make sure your password is at least 80 characters long, with big and small characters, rhymes, references to the 70s - "

And for both my emails, for that matter. When I get home, it´s gonna start again, "ANOMALY DETECTED! GEOGRAPHIC DISCREPANCY! ALERT ALERT! LOCK DOWN IN PROGRESS!"

Binging "Bondi Resque", man... even if I had muscles and knew how to swim better than a drowning crow - I couldn't do that shit...

    zegh8578
I don't get it! Some people have to be resqued immediately after being resqued, they just WADE right back in - RIGHT BACK!!! And nothing deters them - red flags, signs, fucking skull and bones, NOTHING, just "You will DIE" "okay :0"

I had to google 'Bondi Rescue' to realize that you are wasting your life.
As much as I bitch about Google translate, its biggest sin is probably to leave a word untranslated if it cannot find a translation -
    zegh8578
    zegh8578
    - without indicating that that be the case, leaving an impression that it *has* translated a word, and that it simply happens to be the same in the other language.

It's just a really funny app. Er hangt een klonter schijterij aan mijn gekoeketiende lul --> There's a lump of shit on my cuckoo-fucked dick. 'Gekoeketiend' means 'covered in red spots'. :)

You do realize that to keep it cold inside, you have to keep everything shut during the day, right? You only open windows and doors when Ra, to whom we bow in gratitude, is sailing on the Mesektet and travels to the land of darkness. The bugs are most likely the lost souls of atheists and child molesters.

How the hell do I research murder methods and technicalities - for fiction - without ending up on some list? The search results are all
    zegh8578
    zegh8578
"Google, help, I have accidentally fallen on a knife" and stuff, it's all accidents and pathologies, forcing me to add "no, you idiots: MURDER actually" to my search

Stick with precise technical terms - "murder modus operandi analysis" queue returns a lot of hits with detailed scholarly papers.

Made in Italy too. This particular grocery store is a minefield, it's just full of fancy import stuff, and will just murder your wallet. Once in a while I'll go there, and just have some tastes of the big life

I remember hearing stuff like beer, chocolate, cigarettes, etc. is really expensive in Norway. Fish is fairly cheap.
